Every placeholder available in the Email Center — tokens like {customerfirstname} that you type into a template and that are replaced when the email is sent.

How to use placeholders
- In any template editor, click a token in the Available placeholders list to copy it, then paste it into the subject, heading, body, or footer.
- Unknown or unavailable tokens are simply removed when the email is sent, so a stray placeholder never appears to customers.
- Values are safely escaped automatically.

- Free Trial emails — Customer, License,
{product_name}, the Free Trial tokens, Links. - License emails — Customer, License (incl.
{activated_domain},{used_sites},{remaining_activations}), Links. - Security emails — Customer, Security (
{ip_address},{event_time}), Links. - Retention emails — Customer, License,
{days_remaining}, Links. - Admin emails — Customer, Order, License, Site.
Tips & Best Practices
-
Personalise with
{customer_first_name}in the greeting — it reads far warmer than a generic “Hello”. -
Always add
{dashboard_url}to action emails (payment failed, limit reached, win‑back) so customers can act immediately. -
Preview after adding placeholders to confirm they resolve to sensible values.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I use a placeholder that has no value?
It’s removed from the final email — customers never see a raw {token}.
Can a developer add custom placeholders?
Yes — the engine is extendable with a filter so custom tokens can be registered.
Are values safe from broken formatting?
Yes — every value is escaped before it’s inserted into the email.
