WooCommerce Compatibility

SubscriptionFlow is built on top of WooCommerce, so it fits naturally into the store you already run — your products, orders, customers, and payment gateways.

What this does

SubscriptionFlow adds a subscription and licensing layer to WooCommerce without replacing anything. Products stay WooCommerce products, orders stay WooCommerce orders, and checkout uses your normal WooCommerce payment methods. SubscriptionFlow simply adds the recurring‑billing, licensing, and customer‑dashboard pieces on top.

Why it matters: you keep everything familiar about WooCommerce and gain subscriptions — no migration, no separate system to learn.

What it works with

Area Compatibility
WooCommerce Requires 7.0+. SubscriptionFlow pauses with a notice if WooCommerce isn’t active.
Products Any standard WooCommerce product can become a subscription via the Subscriptions Settings tab.
Orders Uses WooCommerce orders. Compatible with modern order storage (HPOS).
Checkout Works with the classic checkout and the WooCommerce Blocks checkout.
Payment gateways Your existing gateways handle the first payment. For automatic renewals, use the SubscriptionFlow PayPal (Vault) gateway or Stripe (Pro).
Themes Works with any properly built WordPress theme; the dashboard/checkout use standard output.
Elementor Optional — only needed for the SubscriptionFlow widgets.
Other plugins Designed to coexist with other WooCommerce plugins, including sibling products, without conflicts.

How it fits into your store

  1. You keep selling with WooCommerce — products, cart, and checkout are unchanged.
  2. SubscriptionFlow watches for subscription purchases and creates the subscription + license automatically.
  3. Renewals are handled by SubscriptionFlow (manually on Free, automatically on Pro).
  4. Customers self‑serve via the dashboard, which sits on any page.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Keep WooCommerce and PHP up to date. SubscriptionFlow follows WooCommerce’s requirements (7.0+ / PHP 7.4+).

  • Use a supported gateway for renewals. Only saved (vaulted) PayPal or Stripe methods can be charged automatically.

  • Test with your theme and other plugins on staging before launch, as you would with any new WooCommerce extension.

  • Enable HPOS confidently. SubscriptionFlow uses WooCommerce’s order tools, so it works with High‑Performance Order Storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need WooCommerce?

Yes. SubscriptionFlow extends WooCommerce and won’t run without it.

Does it work with the new Blocks checkout?

Yes — both the classic and Blocks checkout are supported. The SubscriptionFlow PayPal gateway includes Blocks support.

Is it compatible with HPOS (High‑Performance Order Storage)?

Yes. It uses WooCommerce’s standard order handling.

Will it conflict with my other WooCommerce plugins?

It’s built to coexist with other plugins. As always, test your specific combination on a staging site first.

Do I have to change my payment gateway?

No. Your normal gateways handle checkout. For automatic renewals, add the SubscriptionFlow PayPal gateway or use Stripe (Pro).

Does it work with any theme?

Yes — any well‑built theme. The customer dashboard and checkout use standard WooCommerce/shortcode output.

Is Elementor required?

No. It’s optional and only used for the SubscriptionFlow widgets.
