Setup & activation

The SubscriptionFlow menu is missing / the plugin looks inactive

  • Cause: WooCommerce isn’t installed or active.
  • Fix: Install and activate WooCommerce (7.0+). SubscriptionFlow pauses itself until WooCommerce is running, then the menu appears.

License activation is refused (“key doesn’t match” / “not allowed”)

  • Cause: Wrong key or email, or you’ve reached the license’s allowed‑sites limit.
  • Fix: Re‑enter the exact license key and the email tied to the license. If you’ve hit the site limit, deactivate the license on a site you no longer use, or upgrade to a plan with more sites. See License Status & Allowed Sites.

Pro features are still locked after activating

  • Cause: The license isn’t active yet, has expired, or the page is cached.
  • Fix: Open SubscriptionFlow → License and confirm the status is Active. Refresh the admin page. If it recently expired, renew it.

Subscriptions & purchases

A purchase didn’t create a subscription/license

  • Cause: The product didn’t have Enable License Product ticked at purchase time.
  • Fix: Edit the product → Subscriptions Settings tab → tick Enable License Product and save. New purchases will create subscriptions. See First Subscription Product.

The customer dashboard is empty for a customer

  • Cause: You’re viewing it as the admin, not the buyer; or the customer isn’t logged in.
  • Fix: Log in as the customer who made the purchase (or test in an incognito window). Confirm the subscription appears under SubscriptionFlow → Subscriptions in the admin.

Renewals & payments

Automatic renewals aren’t charging

  • Cause: You’re on Free, no supported gateway is set up, or the customer didn’t pay with a saved (reusable) method.
  • Fix: Activate Pro, set up the SubscriptionFlow PayPal or Stripe gateway, and ensure customers check out with a method that can be saved for renewals. See Automatic Renewals.

A PayPal payment seems stuck or wasn’t recorded

  • Cause: The webhook isn’t configured, so an approved payment wasn’t confirmed when the customer left the page.
  • Fix: Add the PayPal webhook for “Checkout order approved” and “Payment capture completed”, and paste the Webhook ID into the gateway settings. See SubscriptionFlow PayPal Gateway.

Renewals seem delayed

  • Cause: Renewals run on a recurring schedule, not to the exact second, and WordPress schedules depend on site traffic.
  • Fix: This is normal — due renewals are processed on the next scheduled run. Persistent delays on very low‑traffic sites can be improved with a real server cron.

Design & widgets

An Elementor widget (Dashboard/Login/Checkout) isn’t in the panel

  • Cause: The widgets are Pro and only register when a license is active.
  • Fix: Activate your Pro license, then reload the Elementor editor. On Free, use the shortcodes instead.

A page that used a widget is now empty (after a license lapse)

  • Cause: The Pro widget stopped rendering on Free.
  • Fix: Renew the license, or replace the widget with the [subscriptionflow_dashboard] / [subscriptionflow_login] shortcode so customers keep access.

Security

The Turnstile check fails for real users

  • Cause: Mismatched Site/Secret keys or a domain not configured in Cloudflare.
  • Fix: Re‑copy your Site Key and Secret Key from the Cloudflare Turnstile widget and confirm your domain. See Cloudflare Turnstile.

A customer is locked out of 2FA

  • Cause: Lost access to their email/phone.
  • Fix: They use a recovery code. If those are lost too, an admin can help restore access.

Updates

No update notice appears

  • Cause: WordPress hasn’t checked for updates yet.
  • Fix: go to Dashboard → Updates and click Check Again, which always reaches the licence server. Updates are available on both Free and Pro — see Automatic Updates.
  • Cause: you are already on the current version.
  • Fix: compare the version on your Plugins screen against the newest entry in the Changelog.

Still stuck?

  • Check the FAQ for quick answers.
  • Confirm your environment meets the requirements (WooCommerce 7.0+, PHP 7.4+).
  • Test on a staging copy to rule out theme/plugin conflicts.
